I’m the face behind the camera, and I’m so glad you’re here!
I’ve always been a maker. I was the crafty kid, and the DIY queen in my twenties. I have dabbled in all kinds of things looking for that one thing I could really carry with me. I’ve tried sewing, knitting, baking, sculpture, pottery, painting, blogging, fermenting vegetables, houseplants, gardening…the list goes on. God help me, I was even into scrapbooking at one point. Then I had kids. Life is busy and messy, especially when you have littles running around. I had to find some creative outlet that lit my soul on fire, while also not taking over my kitchen table for days at a time.
When I picked up my camera over ten years ago, I was driven to create in new ways, and I’m still loving it every day! Like most women, I wear many hats. I am mama to two. They are my real and true, and definitely keep me on my toes. You might even meet them during our session. I used to teach high school English, but quit to homeschool for a period. I’m now a full time business owner, and feel incredibly grateful to be part of your story.
I love that photography pushes me to get out, meet people and explore. Life is messy and beautiful and I want to photograph it all.
What are your sessions like?
I am not the photographer who is going to ask you to hold still and smile for the camera. I try to make my sessions as laid back and fun as possible! Expect to be moving, playing, snuggling and laughing with your loved ones, while I try to capture the love and connections you share. In the warmer months, if there’s water nearby, expect to leave your session barefoot and soaking wet. If it’s cold outside, expect extra cuddling, and maybe some hot drinks to share with your family- or maybe a snowball fight? Of course, I will try my best to capture at least a couple images of everyone smiling at the camera for your holiday card, but movement, love and laughter are really where its at for me.
How are my images delivered to me?
I want you to love every single image you receive from your session. To ensure that this happens, I use a process called soft proofing to customize a gallery for you. Soft proofing means that you get to choose which images you would like in your final gallery!
After your session, I will send you a link to a gallery full of minimally edited images called proofs, typically within 48 hours. These are not the finished product, but rather previews of your session that allows you to choose which images you would like me fully edit and put in your final gallery. Once you’ve selected your favorites, I will edit them and upload them to your final gallery within 2-3 weeks.
It’s just another way I strive provide the best experience and product for my clients!
FAQs
How does the client styling service work?
It’s really simple! I can shop for you, give you feedback on the outfits you have chosen or you may also borrow items from my client closet- I have dresses in all sizes, a few child outfits and tons of baby clothes too! You are welcome to come to my studio and try on dresses before hand; whatever works for you, works for me!
When can I expect my gallery?
Your gallery will be emailed you within 2 -3 weeks from your session. Of course, during the busy fall season, it might take longer. If you need your images faster than that, please let me know!
What if my kids are uncooperative?
I’m very much a go-with-the-flow person. We all have bad days, but I pride myself on being able to warm up even the grumpiest toddlers. If your kiddo still is just not having it after we’ve tried every trick in the book, we can just try another day. (Depending on how far I have to travel, there may be a small fee.)
What’s your retouching and editing policy?
My galleries are edited to adjust tone, exposure, minor blemishes and the overall feel of the image. I do not change how people look (i.e. making people thinner, taller ect.). I want to capture exactly who you are today, in this moment, in all your beauty.
What’s your policy on rescheduling?
I know that life (and weather!) happen! Let’s choose another date and try again! I cannot guarantee immediate or priority availability, but I will always do my very best to accommodate your needs. I do request that if you think you might need to reschedule, that you give me as much notice as possible.
What’s the best way to contact you with questions?
If you have already booked with me, and want to ask questions about your upcoming session- text me! My number is on your contract. If you have questions about booking- or anything else- shoot me an email, and I’ll reply within 24 hours!
